The DHI method, also known as “Direct Hair Transplantation” or “Pen technique”, is not a hair transplantation technique but a form of application. The DHI method is highly preferred due to its advantages. The main feature of the DHI method is that you do not need to shave your hair entirely. Only the area at the back of the head where the hair follicles will be removed is shaved. The aim of this technique is to ensure that the hair follicles removed from the back of the head are implanted as soon as possible in order to ensure the health and strength of the hair follicles. This hair transplantation is the choice of patients who want a natural result as possible as without having scars and stitch application. With this method, you can resume your social life as soon as possible while achieving natural results.

How is the DHI Method applied?

In DHI hair transplantation, each hair follicle is carefully removed with a micro-motor and the hair transplantation is performed using a Choi pen with a 40 – 45 degree angle, which is the appropriate angle, in the direction and depth to the desired location on your head without shaving. The hair follicles are very carefully and meticulously placed into Choi pens by hair transplantation specialists one by one, and after placement the Choi pens are delivered to specialist doctor for implant. Choi pens of different sizes are used in the operation. The determining factor is the hair follicle thickness structure. Since the channel opening and follicle implant procedures are carried out simultaneously, it ensures that the follicles are implanted in a shorter time.

Whom the DHI Method is applied?

The DHI method is usually applied to male and female patients who prefer the transplantation without shaving and the patients who do not have much dilution. It is applied only for the patients who need an area to be covered with 3.000-3.500 hair follicles in the front line, temples and the gaps between the hairs. Because DHI allows more frequent implant application in narrow areas, and therefore, it is not recommended for the patients who need hair transplantation in a large area. The ideal technique for these patients is FUE technique.

Difference between DHI Method and ICE FUE

In DHI method, as in FUE technique, hair follicles are taken with the help of Micro motor, the only difference here is the form of application. While in FUE method, hair transplantation can be applied up to 6.000 hair follicles, in DHI method, this number is limited with 3000 hair follicles. The most important reason for this is that the procedure is performed by a Specialist doctor because it requires expertise and, therefore, the procedure takes a long time. While in FUE method channel opening and hair transplantation processes are performed in 2 different stages, in DHI method, hair transplantation is performed in 1 stage.

In the first stage, the patient is met by the patient consultant and interviewed by the specialist doctor. The form is filled out, the patient’s health problems, hair loss history, habits, alcohol and smoking use are questioned. Front line is drawn and the areas where the implant will be carried out are determined. Blood test is done and hair is shaved as shorter than 1 mm. It includes the procedures such as numbing the area where the hair follicles will be removed by using painless local anesthesia.

This stage involves the removal of hair follicles from the designated donor area. Hair follicles are removed with 0.7 or 0.8 mm punch tips with the help of a micro-motor and thus hair follicle removal process is carried out. Only the related stem cell is removed without damaging any other tissue. 1 hair follicle produces an average of 2.5 to 3 hair follicles. With this method, 55-60 (or more) hair implantation per square centimeter is possible. The hair follicles are collected and kept in a special solution.

In the DHI method, however, a different technique is used than the ICE FUE and Sapphire methods. Direct transplantation is performed with the technique we call Choi pen.

Day 1

Arrival in İstanbul

Our transfer agent welcomes you in Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen Airport and accompanies you to the VIP transfer. You will be dropped off at the hotel. Please complete your check-in procedure with your ID card without making payment. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing in the hotel, going to a nearby shop mall or you can go for sightseeing.

Day 2

The procedure

We recommend you taking a shower, having a good breakfast, and wearing a button up shirt or a large collar top. Your personal consultant will guide you throughout the procedure. After the pre- operation steps (consultation, hairline designing, blood test, haircut), the operation can begin. The procedure takes about 6 to 8 hours depending on the technique. You are then driven back to the hotel. 

Day 3

Control and departure

You will be driven to the clinic for the last control. The bandage will get removed, the donor site will get cleaned and disinfected and you’ll be informed the way you should wash your head for the next 10 days. Your personal consultant will send you a video for a better understanding of the washing process.The VIP transfer will drive you to the airport.

Questions

Should I be hospitalized after hair transplantation?

There is no need to stay in hospital after hair transplantation. You will be discharged on the same day after hair transplantation.

How long does hair transplantation take?

Considering the method to be used in hair transplantation and the number of hair follicles to be implanted, it takes approximately between 6 and 10 hours.

What is the best time for hair transplantation?

The best time for hair transplantation is the time when the patient feels psychologically and financially suitable and ready. In fact, in which season hair transplantation operation is performed is technically not so much important.  Hair transplantation is not preferred by most people as it is likely to be exposed to the sun in the summer.

When can I get a haircut after hair transplantation operation?

Do not cut your hair with a machine, razor or sharp shaving device or any sharp object for 6 months after the operation. After the 1st month you can have your hair cut with scissors.

Can I smoke a cigarette or a hookah after hair transplantation?

If you are smoking and using any other tobacco products, we advise you not to smoke/use for 1 week after the operation.  This is because smoking reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood. If you are not going to quit smoking, we recommend you to reduce the amount between 2 and 4 cigarettes per day. Otherwise the hair follicles may not hold on tight.

Can I do workout after the hair transplant operation?

You cannot do fitness and heavy sports for 1 month after the operation. We recommend that you do not engage in sports activities exposing to impact, such as football or basketball, for 3 months.

Do you give a guarantee after hair transplantation?

After hair transplantation, we give a warranty certificate. We give a lifetime guarantee for the hairs we implant.

If I need a second session, when can I come back?

If you need second hair transplantation, after the 9th month, there is no harm in having hair transplantation again.
