Is ICE FUE hair transplant painful process?
Hair transplantation process is made comfortable by reducing pain to a minimum with the help of painless local anesthesia. After the surgery, no pain is felt under normal circumstances. If there is mild pain, pain killers are given to our patients.
The ICE FUE method can be applied to the patients who have much hair loss and need intensive hair transplantation. The advantage of the ICE FUE method is that it allows more hair follicles transplanted in one session. It is especially recommended for the patients who need between 3.000 and 6.000 hair follicles. However, in some cases the ICE FUE method is not recommended. Different methods are recommended for the patients who have less hair loss and who only need hair transplantation in sparse areas. In this case, the most suitable decision is to follow our Specialist doctor’s recommendations and act accordingly.

n the first stage, the patient is met by the patient consultant and interviewed by the specialist doctor. The form is filled out, the patient’s health problems, hair loss history, habits, alcohol and smoking use are questioned. Front line is drawn and the areas where the implant will be carried out are determined. Blood test is done and hair is shaved as shorter than 1 mm. It includes the procedures such as numbing the area where the hair follicles will be removed by using painless local anesthesia.
This stage involves the removal of hair follicles from the designated donor area. Hair follicles are removed with 0.7 or 0.8 mm punch tips with the help of a micro-motor and thus hair follicle removal process is carried out. Only the related stem cell is removed without damaging any other tissue. 1 hair follicle produces an average of 2.5 to 3 hair follicles. With this method, 55-60 (or more) hair implantation per square centimeter is possible. The hair follicles are collected and kept in a special solution.
This stage, that is, opening the channels, is the most important process of hair implant. After the local anesthesia process is completed, channel opening process is performed by the Specialist doctor only by using the sharp, thin end that we call the Lateral Slit based on the thickness and depth of the hair follicles. If the channels opened have the appropriate angles and directions, a natural appearance is achieved in the hair transplantation. Otherwise, this natural appearance cannot be achieved.
This is the stage of implanting individual hair follicles by hair implantation specialists into the channels that are opened by the Specialist doctor. Patience is very important during this process. During this process, television or music is switched on in the operation room to provide comfort for the patient. After the implant procedure is completed, the Specialist doctor provides the final checks and the area where the hair follicles are removed is bandaged. This bandage is removed the next day.
There is no need to stay in hospital after hair transplantation. You will be discharged on the same day after hair transplantation.
Considering the method to be used in hair transplantation and the number of hair follicles to be implanted, it takes approximately between 6 and 10 hours.
The best time for hair transplantation is the time when the patient feels psychologically and financially suitable and ready. In fact, in which season hair transplantation operation is performed is technically not so much important. Hair transplantation is not preferred by most people as it is likely to be exposed to the sun in the summer.
Do not cut your hair with a machine, razor or sharp shaving device or any sharp object for 6 months after the operation. After the 1st month you can have your hair cut with scissors.
If you are smoking and using any other tobacco products, we advise you not to smoke/use for 1 week after the operation. This is because smoking reduces the amount of oxygen in the blood. If you are not going to quit smoking, we recommend you to reduce the amount between 2 and 4 cigarettes per day. Otherwise the hair follicles may not hold on tight.
You cannot do fitness and heavy sports for 1 month after the operation. We recommend that you do not engage in sports activities exposing to impact, such as football or basketball, for 3 months.
